The Rose & Crown Hotel, Tring
The Rose & Crown Hotel, Tring
This rather splendid looking hotel is in the centre of Tring opposite the church. It is of course Mock Tudor dating from the early C20th, but still an attractive building I think. It replaced an old coaching inn which stood on the site but which was hard against the road, not set back like this one. That older hostelry was torn down and a more salubrious replacement erected on the orders of the Rosthchild family who held considerable sway in and around Tring in times gone by - mainly by dint of owning large areas of it !
