Wilmington (Railway) Bridge
Wilmington (Railway) Bridge
This bridge formerly carried both the Hull to Hornsea and Hull to Withernsea Railway lines over the tidal River Hull. The railway lines were both closed to passengers in 1964. The bridge's purpose is now just as a river crossing for pedestrians and cyclists, so in its current role is grossly over-engineered! The bridge swivels to allow river traffic to pass.
