Crocuses on Fort Royal Hill. The Georgian spire of the former St Nicholas church can be seen in the background. Fort Royal Hill takes its name from it strategic position during the Battle of Worcester, on 3 September, 1651. The Royalists attempted to defend the city from this position but during the final stages of the battle were overrun by the parlimentarian forces who turned the Royalists guns on the city.
