The church of St Nicholas
The church of St Nicholas
Viewed through lych gate. St Nicholas church has an ogee-arched west doorway similar to the one at TL9597 : Church of the Holy Cross - tower. The church was greatly restored during the 19th century but a few medieval survivals remain: a number of stained glass panels in the north wall windows > TF8804 : The church of St Nicholas - medieval glass detail and an unusual and interesting 14th century font with four carved faces on its stem, just below the bowl > TF8804 : The church of St Nicholas - baptismal font. What remains of the original screen has been incorporated into the present chancel screen > TF8804 : The church of St Nicholas - rood screen. The cast iron royal arms are dated 1683.
