Foundations of Newall Dome (1891)
Archaeology before the building of the Kavli Institute for Cosmology has revealed the foundations for the dome to the Newall Telescope. In this picture you can see the foundations for the central pillar of the telescope mount (centre) and the foundations for the dome walls. The Newall Telescope, a 25-inch refractor was located here from 1891-1955.
