Crocus (plural: crocus, crocuses) are perennial flowering plants of the iris family. They thrive in a variety of habitats and can be found in Europe, North Africa, in the Middle East, in Central Asia and China. The name is derived from the Greek language and means saffron or a saffron yellow colour; the spice saffron is obtained from the stamens of Crocus sativus. LinkExternal link
