Milaid Isaf 1940
This old photograph shows the smallholding of Milaid Isaf in the Cwm Milaid branch of the Grwyne Fechan valley which stretches away to the north. The etymology of the name Milaid relates to the word 'mil' meaning animal.
The house faces the barn across the yard; the walnut tree that towered over the dwelling, and was very productive, was sold in the 1950s to itinerant tree-fellers who offered ready cash for standing trees, and it probably ended up as veneer for new-fangled television sets.
