Castell Dinas Brân western approach
Castell Dinas Brān western approach
Dramatic ruins of the castle which crowns an isolated hill 750 ft above Llangollen. It was built in 1260 on the site of a prehistoric hill fort, by Gruffydd ap Madoc, but had a very short active life. In 1277 it was deliberately abandoned and fired by the Welsh garrison to prevent its use by Edward I's invaders.
