Springfield Brewery-a step back in time
Springfield Brewery-a step back in time
The sign on the rear wall of Butler's Springfield Brewery faced onto the GWR line from Wolverhampton's Low Level Station. The sign was painted in August 1959 just a year before William Butler's were taken over by Mitchell and Butlers of Smethwick in 1960. The brewery continued to brew 'Springfield Bitter' until its closure in 1991. The railway line closed in the 1980s and the railway cutting has been filled in as part of the current brewery redevelopment scheme.
