SJ8397 : Macintosh's Mill

taken 9 years ago, near to Rusholme, Manchester, Great Britain

Macintosh's Mill
Macintosh's Mill
This is catching the sun nicely. The retention of the chimney is marvellous. Chimneys are a major part of the character of a mill but they require lifelong maintenance and serve to attract lightning.
It is amazing how Manchester's textile heritage is getting converted to accommodation. On the other hand, most of Oldham's mills are converted in to accommodation via the interposition of the bulldozer and wrecking ball.
