Gates and stiles on the pilgrims' path
Gates and stiles on the pilgrims' path
These gates are located at the point where the path crosses the line of the lane to Porth Bodeilas. The medieval pilgrims did not have to bother with either gates or stiles. Open fields were then the fashion. The old tramway from Fron Gwyn Quarry (already disused in 1891) crosses the photo from left to right in front of the wall with the stile.
