Pistyll - old and new
The original core of Pistyll - the church and Pistyll Farm - stands either side of the head of the deeply incised lower section of the Pistyll valley. The ruined hotel beyond the farm is a twentieth century addition, initially as a summer residence for the Goddard family of furniture polish fame and later as a failed co-operative hotel venture. Pistyll village set on higher ground is a creation of the granite quarrying industry of the 19th century. This photo was taken from the path leading to the beach.
