Bath Abbey, west elevation
This is a view up the impressive west front of the Abbey. The design was inspired by a dream had by the Bishop of Bath and Wells in the late 1490s of angels ascending and descending ladders. Construction of the abbey began in 1499. This view ST7564 : Bath Abbey, west elevation shows the ladders either side of the main entrance and these show details of the angels ST7564 : An angel on the way up, Bath Abbey west elevation and ST7564 : An angel on the way down, Bath Abbey west elevation
