Porth y Nant, a village deserted by its quarrying population in the 1950s, now functions as a Welsh Language and Heritage Centre.

A fascinating account of a childhood spent at Porth y Nant has been written by Eileen M Webb, the daughter of the last manager of Nant Quarry, who spent the 1920s and 1930s in this unique community. The book details are:
