Footpath to Saltwood
Saltwood Castle can just be seen in the background. This was the home of the late Alan Clarke MP - his widow still lives here. The castle is best known as the place where the four knights - Hugh de Morville, William de Tracy, Reginald Fitz Urse, and Richard Ie Bret - spent the night(28th December 1170)before going on to Canterbury to murder the then archbishop Thomas Becket with their swords.
