SK2280 : Empty river

taken 16 years ago, near to Hathersage, Derbyshire, England

Empty river
Empty river
I was surprised to see no vegetation growing in this gently flowing river and wondered whether there's a problem with mature trees on the banks blocking the light which river plants need. No doubt local anglers would be interested if this is so. I like to see trees by a river but I know they can sometimes prevent normal river vegetation and all the creatures that depend on it.
