The Erch valley above and below the elbow of capture
The sharp, elbow-like, bend in the river (on the very right of the photo) is evidence of river capture. This is where a stream has eroded backwards into the catchment area of another and has beheaded it. Carnguwch church can be seen on the left, while Penfras-uchaf is the farm on the opposite side of the valley.
