The route of the former Galashiels to Peebles railway
The single track railway from Peebles to Galashiels was opened in 1866 and closed in 1962. There were stations at Peebles, Cardrona, Innerleithen, Walkerburn, Thornielee and Clovenfords, and the line linked into the twin track Waverley line at Kilnknowe Junction in Galashiels. This shows the trackbed of the dismantled line approximately 600m west-northwest of the site of Kilnknowe Junction.
