Woolwich Dockyard chimney
Woolwich Dockyard chimney
The chimney was built between 1837 and 1843 to take away emissions from the blacksmiths' fires in the foundry. A description of the chimney in The Times in 1847 describes it as being ten feet higher than The Monument, which is exactly 202 feet high. It is on the north side of Woolwich Church Street.
