A Sheffield tram at Beamish
A Sheffield tram at Beamish
For many years, Sheffield was a stronghold of the electric tram. While other cities were turning their trams into razor-blades, Sheffield continued to produce modernised designs and were still building trams of this type until 1952. Sheffield was the last English city to give up its trams, in 1960. But by 1994 they had laid some new lines and had trams once again. The above car is known as the 'Roberts' type.
