The rocks here are rich in winkles and mussels.
At bottom left are the fossils of the jurassic bivalve Pseudomytiloides dubius. The bituminous shales were laid down in seas with a low oxygen content and as a result contain few fossils. This bivalve is believed to have lived in the upper, more oxygen-rich, part of the water possibly attached to floating objects.
