SZ5088 : Newport Roman Villa

taken 12 years ago, near to Newport, Isle of Wight, Great Britain

Newport Roman Villa
Newport Roman Villa
Built in the late 270s and probably only used for 50 years or so as it did not undergo many modifications one would expect in a longer occupation. It has an exceptionally well preserved bath suite with (from the furnace end) a cauldarium, sudatorium, tepidarium and finally an unheated frigidarium.
