SE2119 : Underpass, Hopton

taken 19 years ago, near to Ravensthorpe, Kirklees, Great Britain

Underpass, Hopton
Underpass, Hopton
A wide track follows the river bank from the Ship Inn to the old wharfs to the east, where there was also a coal mine (an adit). Under this track there is a small bridge, the arch of which can be seen in this image. It could be for a drainage channel, to allow cattle to drink from the river, or to give access from the field to a mooring.
