Aerial ropeway retaining block
This structure, set beside the Vale of Rheidol Railway at Rhiwfron Station, was a retaining block for the aerial ropeway which extended 1100' across the Rheidol Valley to Cwmrheidol mine. The ropeway, last used in 1925, was used to carry lead ore from the mine to the railway for onward transportation to Aberystwyth.
