SE2014 : Landslip at Beldon Pond

taken 16 years ago, near to Lepton, Kirklees, England

Landslip at Beldon Pond
Landslip at Beldon Pond
The small landslip has occurred in the slope next to the old pond. the ground is on the edge of the opencast re-instatement which extends from the pond into the distance and down the hillside to the right. The surface of the reinstatement is very badly drained clay soil, which is prone to this type of slide. The public footpath skirts the pond, crosses the reinstated field to the stile in the middle distance. A very difficult walk.
