View southeast from Stratton Road towards Buxton Road, denoted by the line of trees seen in mid-distance. In the field beyond Buxton Road once stood the gallows, erected by Lord de Dudwik, owner of the Dudwick estate in the 12th century, who had been given the right to hang criminals by the King.
