Devil's Bridge Station
Looking almost like a model railway, this is a general view of the station from the road bridge at the west of the station. Various siding layouts have been used over the years but have been simplified since the cessation of freight activities in the 1930's. When the passing loop at Aberffrwd was removed in the 1960's a siding was required at Devil's Bridge to store a full length train so that a two train service could still operate. Now that the passing loop has been reinstated this is no longer necessary and the siding appears to be too short to handle a full train. SN7376 : Devil's Bridge Station - Spring 1988 shows the length of the siding in 1988. The corrugated iron station building was opened in 1902 and extended in 1905. It is the only building to have survived from the inaugural year of the railway. The portakabin is the station shop and cafe and was installed in 1978.
