Ptarmigan, Lagopus muta
Ptarmigan, Lagopus muta
Where does that ridiculous "P" come from? Ground detail on Fuar Bheinn with that well known hill dweller emerging from behind a lump of granite. It appears that the spring molt is in progress. This is the male, the female was nearby and not so easily spotted, being all white against the snow.
