15th C lectern and screen, and former reredos, Hexham Abbey
Prior to the Dissolution, the lectern and screen were probably used by a reader in the refectory whilst the canons ate their meals. The fourteen paintings on it represent Our Lord, the Blessed Virgin May and the Twelve Apostles. Behind the lectern is a former reredos with paintings of bishops and a 'Dance of Death'(Source: Hexham Abbey Guide, p18).
