These monuments of Baron Gilbert de Umfraville (1245-1307), Lord of Prudhoe, and his wife are badly defaced. The shield bears heraldic arms cut in relief. The Baron was one of the most famous members of his family who lived at NZ0963 : Prudhoe Castle, Prudhoe, Northumberland; he inherited the title of Earl of Angus and fought under Edward I against Scotland and Wales. {Source: Hexham Abbey Guide p16.}
