Shieling above Loch Rathacleit
Until relatively recent times this shieling was inhabited during the summer by a gentleman who, in the past, lived locally and who was said to spend his winters in Portugal. Once a week he would walk out to the road and catch the bus to town where he would buy sufficient provisions to keep him going for the week. He would then carry his supplies, including a cylinder of gas, out to the shieling. The last year that I was aware of him living here he was said to be 84 years old.
