SE7422 : No. 5 compartment boat lift, Goole

taken 30 years ago, near to Goole, East Riding of Yorkshire, Great Britain

No. 5 compartment boat lift, Goole
No. 5 compartment boat lift, Goole
Compartment boats were known colloquially as "Tom Puddings". Don't know why.
The rough structure in the foreground is the hydraulic accumulator tower that seems to be local to the lift and presumably worked in conjunction with it. This particular important hydraulic boat lift has been preserved.
