NG9590 : Gruinard Bay

taken 45 years ago, near to Inchina, Highland, Great Britain

Gruinard Bay
Gruinard Bay
Two rivers flow into Gruinard Bay; the Little Gruinard River and Inverianvie River, washing down red sand from the erosion of the Torridonian sandstones of Fisherfield Forest. The offshore rock is Fraoch Eilean Mr in NG9491, 'Large heather island', which seems an odd name for what is mostly bare rock.
