A 1000 pound bomb has a direct hit on An Garbh-eilean
The smoke and chaos you are witnessing are the result of a direct hit on Garvie Island by a 1000 pound bomb dropped by the crew of a 12 Squadron Buccaneer aircraft from RAF Lossiemouth. The island has long been in use as a target facility for the RAF, USAF and Royal Navy. This picture was taken from Faraid Head.
