TQ0004 : Ford Quay

taken 10 years ago, near to Ford, West Sussex, Great Britain

Ford Quay
Ford Quay
Remains of a former wharf on the River Arun just north of the Ship & Anchor Marina. It was important enough to have a railway siding from Ford station constructed in 1850. The bridge in the background carries the Brighton-Portsmouth railway line and was opened in 1938 to replace a former lift and roll bridge that operated from 1862 to allow water traffic up and down the river.
