TQ2081 : Snow only settled on old tiles

Snow only settled on old tiles
Snow only settled on old tiles
There was a light fall of snow for an hour starting at 8 am on Easter Sunday after a cold night with a frost. By 10 am snow had gone from most roofs. I thought at first this showed which houses had good insulation. But walking around the streets, it was evident that snow had only remained on houses with their original 1930s tiles, and had gone from houses that had been reroofed with concrete tiles. Presumably the modern roofs are smoother and do not hold the snow. The houses in the photo are in Cecil Road, the back of them with more snow is shown in TQ2081 : North Acton houses in snow.
