TQ0201 : Sand Dunes, West Beach

taken 9 years ago, near to Littlehampton, West Sussex, Great Britain

Sand Dunes, West Beach
Sand Dunes, West Beach
Held together by the marram grass that catches particles of sand of the long sandy beaches at low tide. The dune system grew up during the 19th century having been helped by the straightening of the mouth of the Arun and the resulting embankments built up to prevent spits forming. This part of the dunes has been fenced off as a nature reserve to allow the sand to build up and avoid blow outs.
