SX1284 : Adit, Tregoodwell

taken 10 years ago, near to Camelford, Cornwall, Great Britain

Adit, Tregoodwell
Adit, Tregoodwell
This little adit is beside the lane shown in SX1284 : Bridge over Tregoodwell Brook.

Many thanks to Robert Broughton, who has emailed me with the following information: "I believe this adit was a trial working for copper, which was also worked locally on the east side of Roughtor (two shafts) and at a major mine south of Tresinney (three miles south) (Engine house, chimney and processing works still present). The adit was explored in 2008 and found to be approx 25 foot long and dipping gently along its length with a slight eastwards trend. Bats inhabit the far end."
