Pillbox at Bigsweir Bridge
Pillbox at Bigsweir Bridge
Viewed from the western bank of the river Wye this dilapidated WW2 pillbox adjoins the older tollhouse. The pillbox is of non-standard oblong design with a brick outer skin on a concrete shell. Like the many others constructed in 1940 it was completed in great haste. The thick roof concrete is laid on the top of a sheet of corrugated iron. The bricks used prominently display the manufacturers 'LITTLE MILL BRICK Co, PONTYPOOL'.
