Former construction village site
Former construction village site
Part of the site of the temporary village erected for workers employed in the construction of Scar House Dam between 1921 and 1935. These concrete foundations and steps were once part of the single men's hostels, of which there were 10, each accommodating over 60 men. The village included married quarters, a school, shops, laundry, cinema, concert hall, reading room etc, for the benefit of around 1200 workers and their families.
