This little bridge appears to be a typical agricultural accommodation bridge under the Midland main line near Kingston-on-Soar. It is however much more interesting. Through it in fact ran another railway. This was the private line, locally known as "Lord Belper's Railway", running from the Gypsum mine at New Kingston to sidings at Kegworth Station. This line was in operation until closure in 1971 (the track being removed within 6 months), doubtless due to rationalisation of freight on the main line meaning that it was not longer economic to send products out by rail.
