Magdalen College School, Brackley, Northants - the chapel of St James (detail)
The carved wooden pulpit boasts coats of arms, in relief. At the left is that of Bishop William of Waynflete, used by the school and by the parent Oxford college, his foundation. The school's motto, "Sicut Lilium", refers to the lilies in this coat of arms, which in turn represent a tenuous link with Eton College, since they were added to represent William of Waynflete's association with Eton, from the arms of which the lily is borrowed.
