North side, Connel Bridge
North side, Connel Bridge
A former mixed rail and road bridge over the mouth of Loch Etive. The loch is emptying on an ebb tide producing a tide race with numerous eddies and overfalls below the Falls of Lora.

Like all fjords, Loch Etive has a shallow area at its mouth. Unusually this almost dry and is exposed at low tide, and this visit during a spring tide shows the result with a tide race running over the lip producing a waterfall in the sea.
