Portable engine on the Bill of Portland
Portable engine on the Bill of Portland
This portable engine was found, derelict and apparently abandoned, on a roadside tip by a minor road on the Isle of Portland. A portable engine cannot propel itself. It has to be towed, e.g. by horses or a traction engine, to the site where it is required. When fired up, it can then provide belt-driven power for a variety of purposes.
