This skewbald horse, sharing its large pasture with several companions, has spotted the photographer. The term piebald is used to describe animals, especially horses, with a spotting pattern of large white and black patches. Similarly patterned horses with patches of any other colour besides black (i.e. chestnut, brown, tan) are called skewbald (seen here).
