Common Dog Violet (Viola riviniana)
Common Dog Violet grows throughout Britain in deciduous woodland, grassy heaths, old pastures, chalk down. It is able to grow both in light as well as shade on a range of soils. The flowers are bluish - violet, although there may sometimes be lighter tones, since many purple flowers occasionally vary to white.
