Colloquially, Bethel is pronounced Bethal. This is known as the "El-Al" effect where in everyday speech in much of Caernarvonshire and Anglesey the suffix "el" becomes "al", e.g. chwarel (quarry) becomes chwaral and capel (chapel) becomes capal.
