Dudwick Cottage
Dudwick Cottage
Dudwick Cottage once used to be the farmhouse. The cottage dates from the 17th century and was occupied first by the Wrights and, from 1830 - 1937, by members of the Sewell family. In the 18th century Dudwick estate was owned by members of the Wright/Sewell families who lived in Buxton for many generations. Mary Wright, a sister of John Wright of (old) Dudwick House, was a famous author of children's books and her daughter Anna (1820-1878) became famous by writing Black Beauty > TG1617 : Felthorpe village sign - TG2422 : Friends' Meeting House.
