NG8075 : Gairloch Beach

taken 45 years ago, near to An Ard, Highland, Great Britain

Gairloch Beach
Gairloch Beach
Gairloch is surrounded by a number of fine beaches, among which this is one of the best. The sand, derived from the Torridonian Sandstones of the nearby hills, is pink in colour. The promontory at the far side of the beach is An Dłn, 'The Fort' and there are remains of an ancient fortification there.
