At present a public house called the Tricorn, this was a wing of a former mansion house, Hallwood, owned by Sir John Chesshyre who was born in Halton in 1662. He was admitted to Gray's Inn in 1682 and called to the bar in 1689 and in 1727 he was declared the king's first serjeant.
